Charlie's Good....He Can Do It All....Except Win!

40,000 people at the pep rally, Rudy and other ND greats coming out and supporting their team and Charlie Weis getting the fans riled up (pretty evident from the noise level throughout the game) is definitely what makes this the best place to play (and win!) - its truly awesome! I heard that 240 private planes landed in the private airfield in South Bend - an airport that typically has ~20-30 planes coming in on a "regular" ND football weekend. Tickets going for $2,000, Hotels for $500/night, Single Moms putting themselves up for sale (along with an extra ticket to the game ofcourse) on eBay - An amazing day! An Amazing Game!!

Got to give it up to Charlie Weis - The Irish were a far cry from the bumbling idiots they were a year ago under Ty Willingham. For anything, they actually were the superior team all afternoon - until the last 2 minutes (2 minutes and 4 seconds to be exact). This is where we separate the boys from the Men - Don't get me wrong - The Trojans (Minus Bush & Leinart) are going to have their hands full when the Irish visit the Colesium next year - but this Past Saturday just showed the Trojans just had more heart than the Irish - The Players, The Fans, The Coaches and everyone else who had written off the Trojans all week long.

And will everyone just stop whining about the officiating blunders and the fact that they're from the Pac10, "Reggie Push", etc. etc. etc. I'm not going to elaborate on this because volumes have been written over the last 2 days and it almost seems like the world is looking for an excuse to justify the Irish loss. I realize Notre Dame has the most storied program in College Football - Touchdown Jesus included - but suck it up and take the loss. Forget the pushes, the lenght of the grass, the missed calls on both sides of the field, etc. etc. etc. because a week from now - the only thing that will be remembered is that the Trojans came in to South Bend and won a last second thriller. At the end of the day, ND's best effort wasn't good enough and the Trojans came through when it mattered most.

Brady Quinn - great QB - we'll probably see him on Sundays - as we will Walker BUT I would pick Leinart-Bush over Quinn-Walker - Hell I'd take Bush over any other player in College Football (Yes - Vince Young included!).

But enough about SC and how good we are - I respect ND - the School, The Program, but most of all - I respect the Coach - Charlie Weis showed that he was no pushover. He showed that he has what it takes to bring this program back into the upper echelons of College Football. He is here to stay and will bring ND more than the Luck of the Irish (which is all they'd based their program for the last few years until Weis' arrival). I salute him and wish him the best in what looks like is going to be a long and illustrous career with the Irish. That being said - USC will continue to dominate this rivalry for the forseeable future!!!

Fight On!
